*After 2nd renewal, item must be returned for physical check-inPopular Reading Collection
The checkout period for books in the Popular Reading Collection is 3 weeks, with one 2-week renewal. Because these materials are heavily used,
there is a $1.00 per day late fee, so please be prompt in their return. If you have questions, please contact the Circulation Desk at 310/338-5709.
LINK+
The checkout period for LINK+ books for all patrons is 3 weeks. For LINK+ books, renewing online (3 week renewal) is really a request to renew. This request will be processed by the LINK+ system and will not be immediate or automatic. Please be sure to check back a little later to see if the renewal you requested was approved.
Print Periodicals
The faculty checkout period for printed periodicals is 7 days. One 7-day renewal is possible.
Media
LMU faculty and staff may check out media items for seven days. Media items may be renewed twice, no earlier than two days before their due date; each renewal is for one week. Extensions are allowed on a per case basis. Materials may be reserved ahead of time for a specific date and time by using our online Media Advance Booking Form. For more information, please visit the Media & Reserve Services Counter on the 2nd floor of the library, or phone 310/338-3094.
Recalls
You may recall any item that is checked out, with the exception of media and/or reserve items. The person who has the recalled book must return it within 1 week. You will be notified upon its return. You will then have five days to pick it up at the Circulation Desk. Please contact the Circulation Desk at 310/338-5709 to arrange a recall and confirm your contact information.
You can also check the status of a recall at My Library Record.
Please note: All items are subject to recall after 21 days. A $1.00 per day fine may be assessed if returned late.
Family of Staff or Faculty
If you are a current LMU Faculty or Staff, and are registered at the library, your spouse, domestic partner and children over 14 years may receive borrowing privileges (Link+ and Interlibrary Loan are not included). Your family member will need to bring a picture ID, or some other form of ID if the name differs, e.g. a driver's license or checkbook to reflect the same address or relationship to the Circulation Desk.
Jesuit Library Passport
The faculty of Jesuit colleges and universities now have borrowing privileges at all 28 Jesuit institutions in the United States. Access includes circulating and electronic materials, in addition to space for quiet study and research.
To establish on-site borrowing privileges at other Jesuit libraries, please call Library Administration at 310/338-4593 or email Jill Cornelio at jcornelio@lmu.edu and request a Jesuit Library Passport Card.
Please see Jesuit Passport borrowing privileges at the William H. Library.
Lost or Unreturned Items
Faculty and staff are not charged overdue fines, with the exception of unreturned recalled items. However, they are responsible for renewing materials or returning them. Faculty and staff are responsible for replacing lost and unreturned books and other library materials. Faculty and staff will be charged replacement fees for lost or unreturned materials; these fees must be paid in order to maintain borrowing privileges and access to licensed resources, such as databases and electronic journals. Faculty and staff are responsible for all materials checked out on their OneCard, including those checked out by teaching assistants and family members.
When you leave the university, you must return all library materials and pay all fees for lost or unreturned materials that were checked out on your OneCard. Fees that are not paid by the last day of university employment may be turned over to a collection agency.
Your library record is available online or you may contact the Circulation Department.
