Group Study Room Policies
Group study room policies
- Group study rooms may be reserved and used by current LMU students, faculty, and staff only. A valid LMU OneCard is required for access to all group study rooms, and a valid MyLMU account is required for access to the online reservation system.
- Loyola Law students and LMU alumni with a OneCard may use the group study rooms on a drop-in basis if rooms are available at that moment. (Advance reservations are not permitted.) These groups should visit the Information Desk on Level 1 to make their reservations.
- The rooms are designated for group collaboration, not individual study. While individuals may use a room if it is not scheduled, please be gracious about surrendering the space if requested by a group.
- Priority for presentation and media viewing & listening rooms will be given to groups using the rooms/technology for their intended purpose.
- The white board walls in the group study rooms are for your use, but we ask that you use the provided black dry-erase markers only, and erase your work before you vacate the room. Markers and erasers are provided in the rooms. Please notify a staff member at the Information Desk (level 1) if supplies are low or missing.
- All group study rooms must be reserved. Reservations must be made online through the "reserve now" links above.
- Any reservation for a group study room MUST:
- Be for four hours or less
- Start at least one hour after any previous reservation for that room by the same person (no back to back reservations are permitted.)
- Not overlap with another reservation by the same person for a different room.
- Reservations that violate one or more of the above guidelines will be deleted.
- Room reservations can be made up to two weeks in advance.
- Users are encouraged to use a password in the online reservation system to protect their reservation and prevent others from editing or deleting it.
- You may check in up to 5 minutes before your reservation start time by touching the flashing "Start" button on the RoomWizard™ located just outside the group study room door. You must check in by 15 minutes after your scheduled start time. If the “start” button is not pressed within this timeframe, the reservation will be lost, and the room will appear available both online and at the door.
- Free rooms are indicated by green lights on the side of the RoomWizards™.
- If your group vacates the group study room before your reserved time slot is up, please check out at the RoomWizard™ by the door (for non-password protected reservations), or delete your reservation online (for password protected reservations). This will free up the room for others who might wish to reserve/use it.
- Do not leave your valuables unattended in the group study rooms at any time. Secure lockers are available on Level 1. The library is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please be aware that doors can also malfunction at times, which may mean that your items could get locked in a study room. If this happens, contact a library staff member, who will contact Public Safety to open the door.
As with many things about our new building, policy about use of the collaborative rooms is subject to change based on experience and need. We welcome your comments about this policy or anything else about the building: library@lmu.edu
