Series 1 contains a number of albums that Thomas W. Sefton used to house his personal correspondence with Stan Laurel and the stills of Laurel and Hardy movies. Especially valuable is the album found in Box 2, Folder 5, which contains correspondence between Stan Laurel and Sefton from 1961 through 1965. In this correspondence, Laurel comments on the making of the Laurel and Hardy films, as well as other aspects of moviemaking in the 1920s. This is also true for the stills. In Box 3, Folder 1, Laurel’s written comments on movie stills describe aspects of the making of the film or short film in the still. Thus, these albums serve as a source for the history of moviemaking during the silent era and early period of “talkies." Dates provided in the box and folder list are those of datable materials in the folders. The titles that Thomas W. Sefton assigned to the albums are found in quotation marks at the beginning of the content field.
