Collection 084Margaret Tante Burk Papers
Series 6: Personal and Professional Papers
SERIES SIZE: 16 archival document boxes, 3 oversize boxes, 3 items in one map case drawers SERIES DATES: 1955-2009
Series 6 consists of loose papers and subject files that came with collection, without discernable original order (something true of the collection as a whole). The holdings cover such matters as the club for friends that Margaret Tante Burk formed around the astrological sign Leo, called "Love a Leo." There are also subject files that Margaret Tante Burk compiled on personal acquaintances such as Robert Young or Adela Rogers St. John. The correspondence includes some material related to the Ambassador Hotel or the Round Table West or both; it was included in this series because it was filed with personal letters or all three subjects were filed together. The series also includes black and white and color photographs of Margaret Tante Burk, her friends and families, and her activities. Finally, this series contains the only information on Margaret Tante Burk's membership in the Lions Club; she was the first woman admitted to this club (Box 3, Folder 20). The titles that Margaret Tante Burk assigned to the folders are found in quotation marks at the beginning of the "Contents" field.
