Emma Wilhelmi Postcard Collection

The Emma Wilhelmi Postcard Collection (collection number 053) is part of the holdings of the Department of Archives and Special Collections in the William H. Hannon Library at Loyola Marymount University. The collection is open to all researchers who are willing to comply with the rules of the Department of Archives and Special Collections.

The collection consists of 233 postcards, two bookmarks and one album in 3 boxes, totaling approximately .5 linear feet. The collection was a gift of Eleanor B. Hall in July 2001.

This is a collection of postcards belonging to Emma Wilhelmi who lived in Santa Monica. With only a few exceptions the postcards are addressed to her and are from correspondents in other states, in southern California, Mexico and Europe. Several cards are from her cousin Robert Ulrich who lived or traveled in Germany. The cards date from the period 1905-1912. A majority of the cards (207) were mounted in an album. These have been removed for preservation and research purposes and placed in plastic sleeves in the same order as they appeared in the album. These cards are in box one. The album itself is in box three. A smaller number of cards (26) were not in an album. These have been placed in plastic sleeves and may be found in box two.
