Media Circulation Policy
The Media & Reserves Services Collection contains over 40,000 items, selected in support of the LMU curriculum. Most of our audio and video items are available to the entire LMU academic community. The Media Collection encourages the use of media for research, intellectual growth, professional development and personal enjoyment.
FACULTY - 3 days (extensions allowed) Materials may be reserved ahead for a specific date and time by using our online Media Advance Booking Form .
STUDENTS – Any LMU student with an LMU OneCard may use the media collection in the library only. However, for class presentations, we have a permission slip that will allow a student to take a specific item to class for a 3 hour duration (extensions allowed). Please request this form at the Media & Reserve Counter -Faculty signature must be included before student can borrow material.
Items placed on reserve will only be circulated for a 3 hour period unless authorized by the faculty who put the item on reserve, or by Media/Reserve staff.
VISITORS - Non-LMU patrons are welcome to use media materials in the building for a limited period of time (3 hours). To check out media, please present a valid driver’s license to the staff at the Media/Reserves desk on level 2.

Viewing Your Library Record
To see if what items you have checked out or what fines you may owe, check your library record . Simply type in your name and barcode/Library No. to access your record.
AV/Media Return
There are THREE ways to return media items:
Return item to Media & Reserve Services Dept. counter on level 2/
There are two car accessible return bins for Media/AV materials (video and DVD’s only):
Behind the Burns complex on Ignatian Circle Drive
University Hall, parking lot 1, near the elevator bay.
Media Bin Policies
- Use for videocassettes, DVDs, audiocassetes and 1 or 3 day reserve items only – NO LP OR FRAGILE MATERIALS, PLEASE.
- Bins will be emptied Sunday-Thursday at 6:00pm.
- Items that are returned on weekends will be backdated to the previous Thursday.
- Any item returned after 6:00pm will be backdated to previous day at 6:00pm (Sun-Thursday)
- Do not put media items in the wrong bins - damaged materials will be the responsibility of the patron.
Copyright Policy:
Copyright laws and/or commercial licenses protect Media Collection materials. Most material in the Media Collection is purchased for educational use and follows Fair Use Guidelines . If you have questions about publicly showing a video from the Media Collection, please contact Rhonda Rosen .
