Look for this request button to use our retrieval service!
You can place a request online for books, journals, or media items from basement storage to be picked up later. We will retrieve them for you. Books and journals will be held at the Circulation Desk on Level One of the library.
If an item in the library catalog has a request button at the top of the page, click the button and follow the prompts to make your request.
If we are unable to locate a requested item, we will notify you that a search has been initiated, and you will be notified again when the item is found.
What types of items can be requested?
What is the turnaround time?
Online requests take up to 2 hours to retrieve. You will be notified by email when the item(s) are ready for pickup.
Walk-up requests at the Circulation Desk generally take 1 hour for LMU affiliates; however, multiple item requests may take longer.
All retrieval requests will stop 2 hours before the end of Full service hours; requests received after that time will be fulfilled the next day.
How long will we hold the material at the Circulation Desk?
Retrieved items will be held for 7 days.
Who can request books?
All current LMU library patrons with borrowing privileges can request a book online. You will be prompted to log on after clicking the request button in the catalog.
Patrons without borrowing privileges may only request items from Basement Storage, and may not remove these items from the library building. Requests must be made in person at the Circulation Desk; a valid photo I.D. is required.
