Requesting items from the Main Stacks
William H. Hannon Library patrons with borrowing privileges may request items to be retrieved from the Main Stacks. Simply go to the library catalog, search for your item, and click on the "Request" link on top of the page. If the item record does not have a "Request" link, it is not eligible for retrieval.
Requesting items from Basement Storage
Library patrons with borrowing privileges may also request items that are marked "Basement Storage" in the library catalog. Just click on the "Request" link on top of the item record and follow the prompts to complete your retrieval request.
Visitors without borrowing privileges may request items from the Basement Storage as well, but they must do it in person at the Circulation Desk on Level 1 of the library and they may not remove the items from the building. A valid photo I.D. is required to complete the retrieval request.
What is the turnaround time?
- Online requests typically take up to two hours to fulfill. Requests for multiple items may take longer than usual. You will be notified by email when the item(s) are ready to be picked up at the Circulation Desk.
- Walk-up requests at the Circulation Desk generally take one hour. Requests for multiple items may take longer than usual.
- All retrieval requests will stop two hours before the end of full service hours; requests received after that time will be fulfilled the next day.
How long will we hold materials at the Circulation Desk?
Retrieved items will be held for seven days.
Electronic Document Delivery
LMU faculty, staff, and EdD students can also request digital copies of articles and book chapters via ILLiad. Documents will be delivered to your email address within three days.
