Please read the following copyright notice and reproduction policy before downloading or using images from any of Loyola Marymount University ’s Digital Library Program. Your use of our images in any fashion acknowledges your understanding of and compliance with the terms and conditions outlined below.

Materials in the Department of Archives and Special Collections may be subject to copyright. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, Loyola Marymount University does not claim ownership of the copyright of any materials in its collections.

Copyright of photographs and other archival images may be difficult or, in some cases, impossible to determine. Users may reference, print, or link to digital materials in this resource for teaching, learning, or research purposes. Material should be cited in standard bibliographical style based on the descriptive information displayed with the item, and must include:

LMU welcomes “fair use" of the digital collections. Conditions of fair use specify that reproduction or use of these images may not be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research." Fair use also includes criticism, comment and teaching. If you use images from these collections for purposes in excess of fair use, you may be liable for copyright infringement.

Commercial Use:

You must contact the Department of Archives and Special Collections and obtain written permission for any use of images not included in the terms cited above for fair use. Activities in excess of fair use include but are not limited to electronic or paper publishing, video production, exhibits, product presentations, advertising, interior design, or similar commercial activities.

The user or publisher must secure permission to publish from the copyright owner. Loyola Marymount University does not assume responsibility for users’ or publishers’ infringement of copyright or of publication rights held by the original author or creator or his/her heirs, assigns, or executors.

In granting permission to publish images from the digital collections, the Department of Archives and Special Collections does not surrender its own right to publish the material nor to grant permission to others to do so.
