Institute for Research Design in Librarianship (IRDL)
The Institute for Research Design in Librarianship (IRDL) is a continuing education program for academic and research librarians designed to prepare novice researchers for careers as librarian-researchers. To this end, IRDL provides to novice researchers social science research training during a week-long summer workshop, followed by a year of support in completing a research project of their design. Each IRDL Scholar is paired with an experienced librarian-researcher as a mentor during the IRDL year. IRDL is open to any academic or research librarian who is employed in the U.S. or Canada, in a full-time position or a part-time position. Librarians in visiting and other types of term positions are eligible, including librarians completing residencies.
