IRDL is not recruiting any future cohorts. This page has been retained to show the model of the application process during the last year of the program. (April 2025)
Please note the change in eligibility requirements for IRDL 2022 and onward. To be eligible as an Institute Scholar:
- You must have already completed a graduate program in library and information studies or equivalent (completed by May 2023, or earlier).
- You must be employed in a professional position as an academic or research librarian in the United States or Canada. The positions must be full-time but may be time-limited or permanent. Librarians in residency programs are eligible for IRDL.
- You must be able to attend each day of the Summer Research Workshop (Monday through Friday), from May 27-June 7, 2024. Each Scholar will participate in synchronous components of the Summer Workshop from 9 am - 1:30 pm (Pacific) and can also expect to complete four hours of daily asynchronous work like watching recorded lectures, completing homework assignments, and revising research proposals.
