COVID-19 Services

The library is now open for library space reservations for selected groups. While those with reservations are allowed to browse and check out books from Levels 2 and 3, many books (including books in the basement) are not available for pickup in the library. We continue to offer pickup and mail services for LMU students, faculty, and staff.

Search in the library catalog to start your request

Each library item in the catalog will have a link on the right to "Request this item for pickup or mail delivery". Before requesting, make sure that the book is available in the library catalog and comes from one of the collection locations authorized for pickup or mail delivery. Pick up at the LMU Distribution Center

Students, faculty, and staff who live in the Los Angeles area can pick up library materials at the Distribution Center (located in P2 of University Hall). 

  • Students, faculty and staff who are authorized to come on campus for work can visit the Distribution Center anytime Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., no appointment required.
  • Faculty and staff who do not yet have campus access should reach out to Kathryn Ryan for help, or you may request items via mail.

You will have access to request books from the circulating library collections (Main Stacks, most Basement Storage, Popular Reading Collection, Curriculum Materials Collection), as well as DVDs and interlibrary loan books. Receive items by mail to your home

For students, faculty, and staff who live more than 25 miles from campus and within the United States, we offer mail delivery of library books. As shipping can be expensive and carry a risk of loss, we encourage those closer to campus to bundle their requests and use the pickup option.  

You can request available books from the Main Stacks, Basement Storage, Popular Reading Collection, and Curriculum Materials Collection. We cannot mail DVDs. Some of these items have limited loan periods for less than a semester – learn more on the COVID-19 LibGuide. 

For interlibrary loan book requests, we need permission from the lending library to mail your book, so library staff will let you know if your book can be mailed.

LMU students, faculty, and staff can request digital copies of articles and book chapters via ILLiad, by using the Article or Book Chapter request form. Documents will be delivered to your ILLiad account.

What is the turnaround time?

Item requests through the pickup service will take an estimated 3-4 business days to be available at the Distribution Center. Items requested for mail delivery will take an estimated 5-10 days to arrive at your mailing address. You will receive an email to confirm when the item has arrived at the Distribution Center, or when the item has been mailed.
